Creekside Education Trust – looking for a new CET Coordinator

We are recruiting for a new CET Coordinator. After six years at Creekside Education Trust (and 11 years in the UK) I have come to the difficult decision to leave London and move back to South Africa to be closer to family. This means that I will be leaving this wonderful charity in early October 2017.

I personally want to thank you for your interest in and support of CET while I was the Coordinator. I feel very privileged and grateful for my time at Creekside.

We are now looking for the right person to lead the charity through an exciting time of further development, including the Centre expansion and diversifying of programmes.

Please help us in circulating this opportunity amongst potential candidates.

>> The Job Advert and Application Pack are available through this link and on our website.

Note: Application Deadline is on Monday 3rd July, 12pm midday.

Best wishes,
Bettina Kabutz, Coordinator

London residents are invited to ‘float their boats’ and join in a miniature boat flotilla on the River Ravensbourne at the Creekside Discovery Centre on Saturday 17th June.

The Great Get Together is a nationwide celebration of our diversity and what we have in common, in memory of Jo Cox.

Anyone is welcome to bring a boat, which can be homemade or a childhood toy – as long as it floats! There will also be a stall to help people build boats out of natural materials.

FREE EVENT: 3RCU – Habitat Work Day
Wednesday 21st June, 10.30am – 1pm

As part of the 3RiversCleanUp Creekside Education Trust is also looking at habitats alongside and close to our local river. Join us for a habitat work day at Sue Godfrey Nature Park – a public open space that will receive more footfall over the upcoming years as Crossfield Open Space is closed for Tideway Tunnel works.

Meet at the Creekside Discovery Centre at 10.30am, where valuables can be stored and tools collected. We will walk over to the Nature Park together.

Wildflowers Training Course – £20pp
Saturday 24th June, 10am – 1pm

Learn about wildflowers of inner London on a special morning training course at the Discovery Centre. The focus will be on two particular families of wildflower, the mustard family and the daisy family. Your guide, Nick, will take you through how to identify wildflowers and the resources available.

You will get the chance to identify these yourself and the opportunity to explore the magnificent wildflower habitats around the Centre. The grounds of the Creekside Discovery Centre are managed for wildflower diversity and it supports over 250 species of inner London flowers.

FREE EVENT: Wildflowers Pop-up
Wednesday 19th July, 6pm – 8pm

Our grounds support over 250 species of London’s wildflowers, making this a unique resource for its size in Inner London. This year we are hosting a series of Wildflowers Pop-ups to give people a chance to see more of the spectacular wildflowers at Creekside and each Pop-up will have a different theme and focus species.

A Curious Entomologist Training – £35pp
Saturday 22nd / Sunday 23rd July, 10am – 4.30pm

Curious? Why curious? Entomologists might, at first, seem a bit eccentric, but they pursue their study of the natural world with a passion fuelled by curiosity.

Insects are everywhere. They are so many, and so varied — fascinating, beautiful, mysterious, bizarre. Through their mind-boggling biodiversity they offer us a window into the ecological complexity of life on Earth, and give us a powerful insight of the workings of the natural world.

Using simple methods and materials provided, this 1-day workshop will look at techniques to find and observe a wide variety of different insects, then how to preserve sample specimens for examination under the microscope.

Event organised and hosted by LB Lewisham.
